Tips and Tricks
Whether you're picking up a brush for the first time or you're a seasoned canvas conqueror, these handy tips will help you get the most out of your paint by numbers!
Prep Before You Paint
Ensure your canvas is laid flat on the table. You may want to tape it down, or place it under heavy books the night before to smooth it out.
Set up your space by choosing a well-lit and comfortable area with enough room to comfortably fit your portrait, paint, and anything else you might need.
Protect your surface by laying down newspaper on your table to catch any spills or accidents.
Tips, Tricks, and Advice
You are free to go in any order you want- we recommend starting with larger sections first, saving smaller sections and outlines for later. This allows you to ease into the activity, and helps make your portrait look cleaner overall.
Clean your brushes often- Keep a cup of water nearby to rinse between colours and prevent mixing.
Use a toothpick or the small brush included to clean up the edges. Cleaner edges will help your portrait look more polished and professional.
Remember to take breaks. This should be a fun, relaxing activity, not a race!
